CS1.6 winners:
1st Team x3o
2nd NiceThreads
3rd AssistedSuicide

Congrats to all the winners and hopefully we'll see you in the next few months!

Well it’s been a few days and I’m finally rested enough to sit down and gather my thoughts about the events of the last weekend. Four days of hard work, very little sleep and about 3 cases of bawls helped me do everything I could to ensure the event was as good as possible for all attendees. There were lots of good things we improved upon from the last event and a few things that we overlooked that were a huge inconvenience in the end. I will cover all of these topics, the good, the bad and the infamous g3/UnheardOf ‘theft’ mix-up to clear up any and all rumors.

First off, I would like to take a few moments to thank all of our sponsors, there’s a lot to list and all contributed a lot to DC-LAN:Winter! Verizon FiOS, NationVoice, BenQ, CEVO, CableOrganizer, SteelSeries, BenQ, Plantronics, UltraProducts, M-S-Y.com, CoolerGiant, KillerNIC, NZXT, Tagan, Thermaltake, Bawls, CoolerMaster, Crucial, eDimensional, ZBoard and Team AcidReign!

Second, our staff, without everyone that helped actually set up the event, there is no way any of this could have happened. There’s again a long list so bear with me! First and foremost all of the guys from Ni-Online.org; Nimby, Hack, Boo and Andrew, without them we would not have a network and DC-LAN would not be possible! Secondly the guys from EastCoastLAN; Wayne, Jintek, and John, they brought in a ton of extension cords to make sure we had enough power and were able to get it to the necessary places, without them nothing would have turned on! Everyone from the Source-Radio crew, I know I’m going to forget names here, there’s a large group that makes up their staff and everyone helped more than you know! Jinxed, Dampfire, Jadz, A’Hearn, and many many others! Many people in the community helped a member come to the event all the way from Canada to help as a staff member. Trayton “Jaali” Kilby was that person and he did help out a fare share, thanks for your help Jaali!

Regarding the G3 Theft/Joke incident, I will not post my opinion, but based on my knowledge and experience with what happened, G3 will not be allowed back at future DC-LAN’s. All I will say, is no laptop was stolen, there were 2 desktops and a LCD involved, but the equipment was returned. I apologize to all members involved on both sides, hopefully we won’t have an issue like this again.

We had a few problems that were unfortunate but we managed to work around them. Our main issue was with the servers, everything else was pretty much taken care of. We had a few small power issues but these were due to people daisy chaining and overloading the circuits. Overall this was a great event and for the most part didn’t have many large issues. This event is really going to set the stage for future DC-LAN’s as this was a huge success! I’m already talking with a few big sponsors that I received emails from Monday afternoon. Dates will hopefully be announced this Friday pending the hotel moving some other events around. Stay tuned!

Final announcement - See you in 2 days!

That's right everyone, DC-LAN:Winter 2007 is only 2 days away! I'm sure you are all just as excited as I am for the event to begin! However, there is still a lot to be done and only a little bit of time left to do it in! I have created a checklist for all attendees so that in the midst of all the excitement, you do not forget anything or bring anything that you aren't allowed to have! There are a few links listed below, all of great importance so make sure you check them all out!

DC-LAN Waiver - Required for all attendees, especially those under 18! Parents must sign this!
DC-LAN Winter checklist - Adobe reader required - Don't forget deoderant and extra power cords - forgot these on the list, unsanitary(people with BO) will be asked to go shower, if you don't fix it, you'll be asked to leave.
DC-LAN Reservation list - Team names and who will be checking in for your team
DC-LAN Bring/Leave at home list - also on the Checklist

For those who haven't heard, we will be raffling off ONE, possibly TWO PS3's! That's right, brand new in the box with receipt! We have two, depending on ticket sales, we will raffle the second one! Tickets will be sold as follows: 1 ticket for $10, or 3 tickets for $25, these are done by cash only and you MUST be present to win! This raffle is open to all attendees, Competitors, Spectators and BYOC Attendees. In addition to the ONE, possibly TWO PS3's, we will also include my own personal PSP with 2 games and 3 movies!

We will also have a handful of 19" and 21" Flatscreen CRT monitors for rent at the door. So don't worry, we have you covered, cash only though!

If anyone has any questions, please email me ASAP This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or join #DC-LAN on irc.gamesurge.net and ask away! See you in two day!

 Drive safe!

That's right the CS:S Groups are released! These are preliminary groups, if any teams pre-pay or show up at the door, these will be adjusted accordingly.

CS1.6 - your seeds and brackets will be finalized at the LAN, we are still waiting on a large number of team confirmations and there are a few teams that say they are showing up at the door. Preliminary 1.6 seeds will be created Friday night and final seeds will be done Saturday morning.

Enjoy, and happy new year!
